About

Hi, I'm Ken Waletzki. I am a barely adequate amateur athlete, but damn-it I try. I spent too many years sitting in front of a computer screen working on technology. In 2001 I left a decent enough company that paid me adequately, but there's more to life than that magic that can be done with my brain and fingers. So, I decided to balance my life with technology development and outdoor recreation.

In the years after leaving hardcore technology development I have travelled as far as Tasmania, ran the Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim, biked the 200 miles of the STP in a day, mountain biked all of Bend Oregon's trails (repeatedly), lived next to Zion National Park, watched the sunrise over the jungle in Guatemala from a Myan pyramid, climbed the Roman siege ramp at Masada, kayaked in Alaska, climbed Half Dome with the cables-down (and was the only person on the summit that day - rare for Yosemite), and so much more. But maybe I'm wrong, and on my death bed one day I'll say, "I wish I spent more time in front of a desk."
